COZE Launch and Welcome Event

  CWC are delighted to announce that the official launch of Coze Issue 5 (2021) is happening at our Coze Launch and Welcome Event!   Date and Time: Friday 4 March, 4pm-6pm Location: Club HQ (Room 106B), Curtin University    Coze Journal is Curtin Writers Club's annual literary print publication, which collects writing by club members as well as illustrations by members of Curtin Illustration Club.    At this event, not only will you be able to hear contributors read their aloud and support a publication created entirely by students, but you will also be able to meet and network with fellow emerging writers! Attendees will also be able to suggest ideas for the Coze 2022 theme!   Copies of Coze Journal Issue 5 (2021) will be available to purchase for $20 cash (contributors will receive a $5 discount on their first physical copy), as well as copies of previous issues.   Come along for a night dedicated to celebrating and supporting emerging local writers!

Script Writing Workshop 3

The third of the Curtin Film Production Society and Curtin Writers Clubs' script writing workshops! Whether you want feedback on your script, create a script or learn what's involved in script writing, there's something for everyone! We will be workshopping scripts, and then collaborating to create one. Scripts don't have to be complete, and should be 5 minutes max. Please add content warnings. Want to learn how to properly 'bring your characters to life?' Then to the Zone on Tuesday, September 28th for a workshop on creating and developing characters with Rebecca Higgie, author of The History of Mischief! This event is faciliated by CWC's Editor-in-Chief Robyn Lunn. This event will not be streamed.    Curtin Writers Club respectfully acknowledges the first inhabitants of the nation and the traditional custodians of the lands where we live, learn and work, the Whadjuk people of the Noongar nation. We wish to acknowledge and respect their continuing culture and the contribution they make to the life of this city and this region. We also acknowledge the traditional custodians of the various lands on which we are all located and the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people participating today. This is stolen land and sovereignty was never ceded. We pay our respects to elders past and present, as well as the thriving culture of Indigenous writers and writing.

The event focuses on a number of anthologies of Western Australian writers or published by Western Australian publishers, many of which feature emerging writers. Several contributors to these anthologies will be in attendance, so this is an excellent opportunity to network with established writers, editors and publishers and learn where your club membership can lead you in the future.  Baked goods will be available and labelled for dietary requirements.
